Purchased for $800,000 in the 2007 Keeneland September yearling sale, Old Fashioned raised an eyebrow. Before anyone knew much about him he was already turning heads - even after first arriving here at Fair Hill. He is the defenition of Grey/Roan and can easily be picked out in a crowd. After winning an allowance race at Delaware Park in November by 15 and a half lengths, trainer Larry Jones knew he was ready for stakes company. In the Remsen Stakes at Aqueduct, Old Fashioned jumped right out of the gate and lead wire to wire without being challenged. Known for being a bit clumsy, he's generally found laying down in his stall or just being a big kid with those walking by asking for his attention. He will play with you but certain won't bite. After his summer here at Fair Hill, he will head to Fairgrounds for the winter where he will embark on the historic Derby trail. |
